SUMMARY:NCAA Division II Softball Regionals
DESCRIPTION:After securing its second consecutive Gulf South Conference tournament championship last weekend, the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team will enter NCAA tournament play as a No. 1 seed and, for the first time in program history, a regional host.\nAs the top seed in the NCAA South Region pod, AUM (43-9) will host fourth-seeded Nova Southeastern, fifth-seeded Alabama Huntsville and eighth-seeded Tuskegee at the AUM Softball Complex.\nAUM will open play against Tuskegee on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the double elimination tournament. Get the full schedule and information on ticket prices through the tournament homepage.\nThe Warhawks, who are 18-1 at home this season, built momentum for the NCAA play by going 4-1 in the Gulf South Conference tournament in Oxford last week. AUM scored seven unanswered runs in a 7-4 championship game victory over Alabama-Huntsville on Sunday. Chloe Derrick and Gia Martin powered the offense with back to back home runs, while Alanna Goble earned the win in the pitcher’s circle.\nThe Warhawks earned the top seed in the 2021 NCAA South Regional.\nThe games are as follows: \nOpening Round: Thursday, May 12th \nGame 1: 1 p.m. – No. 4 Nova Southeastern vs. UAH\nGame 2: 3 p.m. – No. 1 AUM vs. No. 8 Tuskegee\nElimination Round: Friday, May 13th   \nGame 3: 1 p.m. – Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2\nGame 4: 3:30 p.m. – Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2\nGame 5: 6 p.m. – Winner of Game 4 vs. Loser of Game 3\n Championship Round: Saturday, May 14th – 1 or 2 Games @\nChampionship Game: 1 p.m. – Winner of Game 3 vs Winner of Game 5\n(if necessary) 3:30 p.m.\nAUM faculty and staff who are interested in serving as volunteers for the NCAA South Regional are encouraged to contact Nick Robison at nrobison@aum.edu.
