SUMMARY:Spooky SK-Day at AUM
DESCRIPTION:AUM will host its annual SK-Day, a one-day event designed to spark interest in mathematics and STEM among young women and their supporters.\nSK-Day is named in honor of pioneering mathematician Sonia Kovalevsky, the first woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics. For the first time, the AUM program will feature a spooky, Halloween-inspired theme, blending hands-on learning and activities.\nSupported by AUM’s administration, the event invites middle school students to explore how mathematics connects to a variety of fields through interactive workshops and activities led by AUM faculty and student clubs in the College of Sciences.\nThis year’s workshops include:\n\n\nDr. Mosisa Aga – Alphametic Puzzles\n\n\nDr. Luke Smith – How to Create a “Spending Plan”\n\n\nLisa Mueller – Do the Monster Math: A Math Trivia Game!\n\n\nThe event offers a unique opportunity for students to see math in action, engage with faculty role models, and discover exciting pathways in STEM.\n
