Spooky SK-Day at AUM
AUM will host its annual SK-Day, a one-day event designed to spark interest in mathematics and STEM among young women and their supporters.
SK-Day is named in honor of pioneering mathematician Sonia Kovalevsky, the first woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics. For the first time, the AUM program will feature a spooky, Halloween-inspired theme, blending hands-on learning and activities.
Supported by AUM’s administration, the event invites middle school students to explore how mathematics connects to a variety of fields through interactive workshops and activities led by AUM faculty and student clubs in the College of Sciences.
This year’s workshops include:
-
Dr. Mosisa Aga – Alphametic Puzzles
-
Dr. Luke Smith – How to Create a “Spending Plan”
-
Lisa Mueller – Do the Monster Math: A Math Trivia Game!
The event offers a unique opportunity for students to see math in action, engage with faculty role models, and discover exciting pathways in STEM.
