From Lecture Halls to Literary Landscapes: Leslie Harper Worthington's Poetic Path

After earning her bachelor’s degree from AUM in 1984, Leslie went on to complete her master’s and Ph.D. at Auburn University. Following a distinguished 40-year career in higher education as an English faculty member and academic administrator, she has recently retired and returned to her creative roots—writing poetry.

Leslie has two poetry collections on the horizon: Why Would You Leave Me? (Finishing Line Press, October 2025) and Lingering: A Poet’s Journey through Literary Landscapes (North Meridian Press, Summer 2026). As she shares on her website:

Welcome to the world of Leslie Harper Worthington, where poetry meets adventure. Whether revisiting the ghosts of beloved writers in Lingering or untangling the truths of her own past in Why Would You Leave Me?, Dr. Worthington’s poetry invites readers to travel with her across memory, history, and imagination.”

AUM visual art students design new One Montgomery logo

Auburn University at Montgomery students in “VISU 3722: Design Techniques” recently partnered with One Montgomery, a local nonprofit dedicated to building unity and collaboration across communities, to design and launch the organization’s new logo. The class project offered students a professional-level experience in client collaboration and brand development, said Associate Professor of Fine Arts Breuna Baine, the course instructor and faculty mentor for the project.

The new One Montgomery logo — designed by Tristen Meads, a junior graphic design and communications major from Montgomery, and Antonio Sullivan, a senior graphic design major from Birmingham, Alabama — was unveiled Thursday, Nov. 6, during a presentation at AUM’s Cason McDermott Art Gallery. Baine, Meads, and Sullivan received certificates of recognition from One Montgomery co-chairwoman Mary Anne Martin and incoming co-chairwoman Pearl Flowers.

“One Montgomery is very appreciative of the team effort by Breuna Baine and her students to provide us with a new logo,” Martin said. “We were founded as an organization to bring the Montgomery community together, and this partnership represents exactly why we were established.”

Spreading Holiday Cheer and AUM Pride

This holiday season, meet Cameron Reeder—currently in his seventh year bringing Christmas cheer as Santa Claus!

After graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor’s in English, Cameron began a diverse career that included serving as President & CEO of the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourism Association (2000–2003). He is now in his 21st year with Acme Brick and Tile in Madison, AL. Recently retired after 15 years as Care Pastor at World Harvest Outreach, Cameron is also the author of four Christian devotionals and a children’s book, all available on Kindle Unlimited.

Cameron and his wife, Sherry, continue to spread joy—especially during this festive time of year. Share with us this year’s Santa photos with Cameron and be featured on AUM Alumni social media!
