Diagnose and Treat Family Members of All Ages
Family Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN)
The Auburn University at Montgomery College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner, available fully online.
A family nurse practitioner (FNP) is a registered nurse with a specialized graduate degree in nursing who provides family-focused care to patients ranging from infants to the elderly and every age in between. FNPs treat illness and injuries, and have opportunities to teach people about healthy lifestyle habits and disease prevention. Often, an FNP serves as the primary care provider for families, which means that they will not only diagnose conditions, but also treat them.
Graduates from AUM’s MSN Family Nurse Practitioner concentration will be prepared to go beyond the traditional FNP role to participate in research and implementation of health policy, leadership, education, case management, and consultation.
The MSN is an online program, but students will come to campus for intensive experiences which will be pre-arranged for activities such as orientation, evaluation, and simulation experiences. Graduates from the MSN program are prepared to sit for the appropriate certification examination.
Two other MSN program concentrations are offered by the AUM School of Nursing: Nurse Educator for Interprofessional Practice and Health Systems Leader.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master’s degree program in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Auburn University at Montgomery are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
